The Pencak Silat Contingent of Universitas Gadjah Mada delivered a commendable performance at the 2026 Regional Student Sports Week (Pekan Olahraga Mahasiswa Daerah/POMDA) DIY, held from October 18 to 20, 2026. Competing against 16 universities across the Yogyakarta Special Region, UGM secured a total of 8 medals, comprising 1 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze, across various sparring and artistic categories, finishing in 5th place in the overall medal standings. This achievement was accomplished amid the simultaneous demands of the Mid-Semester Examinations (UTS) that the athletes were also navigating. The result stands as a testament to the dedication of both the athletes and coaching staff in their preparation leading up to competition day, including the ability to balance training, physical conditioning, and academic responsibilities. read more

UGM Athletics Club athlete Sultan Devendra P.S. delivered a proud performance on the international stage, claiming two medals at the 2026 MUBLOC Orienteering World Ranking Event organized by Universitas Budi Luhur on October 17–18, 2026. Sultan, a student of the Regional Development study program, class of 2026, secured a gold medal in the M20 Sprint Distance and a bronze medal in the M20 Middle Distance, both at the international level. This achievement makes Sultan one of UGM’s young orienteering athletes to have successfully competed and excelled at the international level at a very early stage of his studies. UGM Chess Club once again made its mark on the national stage by claiming 1st Place in the Student Team Category at the Unnes Cup 2 Chess Tournament, organized by the Chess Club of Universitas Negeri Semarang. This national-level tournament was held over two days, on October 10–11, 2026, at the Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Negeri Semarang, Central Java. The team category featured 16 teams from public and private universities across Indonesia, while the open tournament category drew 111 participants from various regions. The Universitas Gadjah Mada Sports and Arts Week (Porsenigama) 2026 was officially opened on Friday, October 17, 2026, at GOR Nusantara UGM, marking the start of the largest sports and arts event on campus, which will run through November 27, 2026. Carrying the theme “Stepping Forward Together to Reach Our Shared Pride”, Porsenigama 2026 involves 4,556 students comprising 3,967 athletes and 589 artists from 20 faculty and school contingents within UGM. The competition spans 23 sports disciplines and 14 arts categories, making Porsenigama 2026 the most comprehensive platform for celebrating and measuring the full breadth of UGM student potential.
