UGM’s Judo Student Club delivered a dominant performance at the 2026 DIY Regional Student Judo Championship (Kejurda Judo Mahasiswa DIY 2026), held on August 29–30, 2026, at the Padepokan/Dojo Judo of the DIY PJSI Regional Board, Sorowajan, Banguntapan, Bantul Regency. The prestigious regional competition brought together hundreds of the finest judokas representing the Regency and City Boards of PJSI from across DIY, including Bantul, Sleman, Kota Yogyakarta, Kulon Progo, and Gunungkidul competing across student and open categories based on age groups and Senior/Student classifications. The UGM Judo contingent produced an outstanding collective performance, securing a total of 14 medals in a single championship: 5 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and 1 silver medal from the inter-university team event. This haul stands as one of UGM Judo Student Club’s finest showings at a regional championship and reflects the depth and consistency of athletic quality spread across multiple weight classes.

Gelanggang Expo (Gelex) 2026 returned as Universitas Gadjah Mada’s annual showcase event, introducing Student Activity Units (UKM) and communities, presenting impressive student talent, and featuring special performances from guest stars. Carrying the theme “Gelora Imaji Gelanggang”, the event ran for three days from August 27 to 29, 2026, at Pancasila Field, UGM. This year, Gelex involved all student activity units and communities across UGM, 224 committee members, and 635 performers, coming together to create a vibrant and spirited celebration of student expression. As an annual fixture, Gelex serves not only as an entertainment platform but also as a strategic space for UKMs and communities to introduce themselves to new students and members of the UGM academic community who are looking to develop their interests and talents.
UGM’s Chess Student Club delivered a proud performance at the 2026 STIK Chairman Chess Cup (Turnamen Catur Piala Ketua STIK Cup 2026), organized by the National Police Science College (Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kepolisian/STIK) of the National Police Education and Training Institute (Lemdiklat Polri). The national-level university chess tournament was held over two days, from August 22 to 23, 2026, at the Gedung Bhakti Dharma Waspada STIK, Jakarta, in commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The competition drew participation from 17 teams representing public universities, private universities, and state agency colleges from various regions across Indonesia, making it a highly representative and competitive national-level university chess event. The UGM Chess contingent, consisting of four students, succeeded in claiming a total of three awards: 2nd Place in the University Team category, 6th Place in the Individual category, and 8th Place in the Individual category.
UGM’s Badminton Student Club made its presence felt on home ground at the UGM Cup 2026, a national-level badminton championship that brought together athletes from universities and senior high schools and vocational schools from various regions across Indonesia. The championship, held from August 9 to 15, 2026, serves as one of UGM’s Badminton Student Club’s annual flagship events, designed as a platform for students and school athletes to maximize their potential, ignite their competitive and achieving spirit, and provide a means to put that spirit into practice within a healthy competitive environment. In this nationally attended event, UGM placed one of its own athletes on the podium through Kia Nur Padilah, a student from the Electrical Engineering program, who claimed 3rd place in the University Men’s Singles category.
