UGM’s Judo Student Club delivered a dominant performance at the 2026 DIY Regional Student Judo Championship (Kejurda Judo Mahasiswa DIY 2026), held on August 29–30, 2026, at the Padepokan/Dojo Judo of the DIY PJSI Regional Board, Sorowajan, Banguntapan, Bantul Regency. The prestigious regional competition brought together hundreds of the finest judokas representing the Regency and City Boards of PJSI from across DIY, including Bantul, Sleman, Kota Yogyakarta, Kulon Progo, and Gunungkidul competing across student and open categories based on age groups and Senior/Student classifications. The UGM Judo contingent produced an outstanding collective performance, securing a total of 14 medals in a single championship: 5 gold medals, 5 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and 1 silver medal from the inter-university team event. This haul stands as one of UGM Judo Student Club’s finest showings at a regional championship and reflects the depth and consistency of athletic quality spread across multiple weight classes.
UGM’s individual podium presence extended across nearly every class entered. Gold medals came from Muhammad Akmal Tian Tsauban (-90 kg), Samuel Putra Legawa (-66 kg), Muhammad Hafiz Januarta (-81 kg), Aditya Rangga Wardana (+90 kg), and Marcellino Augustian Lu (-73 kg). Five silvers followed through Muhammad Kautsar Dharma (+90 kg), Andri Thajo (-55 kg), Muhammad Zufryant Andaluxma (-60 kg), Muhammad Ilzam Qiyami (-90 kg), and Khafifuddin Assajad (-66 kg), while Maikal Atsani W, Bening Katon Nugroho, and Muhammad Faza Bil Haq Susanto each closed out the individual tally with bronze in the -73 kg, -66 kg, and -60 kg classes. In the team event, five names is Muhammad Akmal, Muhammad Kautsar, Muhammad Hafiz, Marcellino, and Khafifuddin succeed to bring home inter-university silver.
Faza, Chair of UGM’s Judo Student Club, expressed deep pride in the performance of all athletes while framing the results as a powerful source of motivation heading into the next major competition on the calendar. “As Chair of UKM Judo UGM, I am very proud of the efforts of the 13 athletes at the DIY Student Regional Championship who succeeded in claiming 5 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze, and 1 silver in the team event. This achievement is both a foundation and a motivation to keep improving, because two months from now we will be facing Porsenigama. I hope these results will ignite the spirit to train more seriously and deliver the best possible results for UGM,” said Faza. The 14-medal haul is hoped to serve as a launching point that strengthens the spirit and commitment of all UGM Judo Student Club members to continue growing and delivering an even more impressive performance at future competitions.
