UGM’s Archery Student Club successfully hosted the UGM Open Archery Championship (UOAC) Series 3 from July 8 to 12, 2026, at Pancasila Stadium, UGM. The open archery championship drew an outstanding level of participation, with 520 athletes representing 97 clubs from various provinces across Indonesia. Participants competed in 45 team events and 60 mixed team events, making UOAC Series 3 one of the largest university archery competitions ever held within a campus setting at UGM. The successful staging of this national-scale competition reflects the professional capacity of UGM’s Archery Student Club as an organizer, while firmly establishing UGM as a recognized center for archery development at the national level. read more

UGM Taekwondo athletes once again made their mark on the national stage by claiming two silver medals at the 7th National Taekwondo Championship (Kejurnas) Kapolri Cup 2026. The championship was held from July 9 to 12, 2026, at the Indoor Stadium in South Tangerang, Banten, and attracted 2,098 athletes from across Indonesia, comprising participants from the general public as well as athletes affiliated with the Indonesian National Police (Polri). As one of the most prestigious Taekwondo championships in Indonesia, the Kapolri Cup serves both as a platform for athletic development and a venue for fostering sportsmanship, camaraderie, and national spirit through sport. Both silver medals were won by Yuki Shafa Maheswari, a student of the Information Technology study program, Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering UGM, class of 2024, who delivered a consistent performance amid fierce competition from top athletes across Indonesia. read more

UGM’s Judo Student Club once again delivered a commendable performance at the International Judo Championship – Tiang Bendera Open 2026, held in Yogyakarta on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The competition is an international-level event bringing together participants from various universities and educational institutions, aimed at fostering interest and talent in judo among students and young people, while also serving as a benchmark for athletes preparing to advance to higher-level competitions. Competition categories were divided by age and weight class to ensure fair and competitive matches for all participants. Two delegating teams from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) delivered outstanding performances at the National Excellence Competition (NEC) Chapter 2026, hosted by Universitas Mataram. The prestigious national essay competition brought together leading teams from universities across Indonesia to compete across eight sub-fields of study. From those eight sub-fields, both UGM teams advanced to the final round and claimed awards that placed UGM among the top-performing universities in attendance. Team BioMaggot-ColorSense from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology earned the 2nd Place Overall Winner title along with a Gold Medal Final, Best Idea, and Best Team Final, while Team Circular Stage System (CSS) from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences secured a Gold Medal as finalists. read more
