UGM’s Judo Student Club once again made its mark at the national level, claiming two medals at the 2026 National Student Judo Championship, held in Karawang on August 8–9, 2026. The competition brought together the finest judo athletes from universities across Indonesia, making it one of the most prestigious national-level judo events in the student sport circuit. The UGM Judo contingent secured one gold medal and one bronze medal across two different weight classes, demonstrating the consistency and competitiveness of UGM’s athletes at the national level. This achievement further reinforces the track record of UGM’s Judo Student Club as a development platform that continues to produce high-achieving athletes.
The gold medal was delivered by Hagia Sofya Radityo, a student from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, who dominated her category and claimed first place in the Women’s -48 kg class. Hagia Sofya Radityo shared her feelings of gratitude and emotion over the journey she went through during the competition. She acknowledged that pressure and tension were an inseparable part of competing at the national level, but that the support from those around her proved to be an equally powerful force. “This was the most enjoyable competition of the year for me. I felt a great deal of tension and pressure, but the support from the UGM team, my family, and my friends was just as immense. Thank you, and I hope that in the next competition we can all do even better,” said Hagia.
The bronze medal was earned by Muhammad Kautsar Dharma Susetio, a student from the Faculty of Agriculture, who finished in third place in the Men’s -100 kg class, completing the UGM contingent’s medal haul at the championship. Muhammad Kautsar Dharma Susetio also reflected on the championship as a deeply valuable experience and a source of motivation to keep improving. “The National Student Judo Championship was a truly valuable experience, getting to meet so many national-level athletes whose level is far above mine, and I’m using that as motivation to become better going forward,” he said.
The success of both athletes reflects the quality of the structured training program and the competitive spirit consistently maintained within UGM’s Judo Student Club. Beyond the results themselves, the achievement at the 2026 National Student Judo Championship stands as proof that UGM’s Judo Student Club is capable of producing athletes who compete at the national level without sacrificing their academic commitments as students. It is hoped that this accomplishment will serve as inspiration for all members of UGM’s Judo Student Club to continue training diligently and raising the quality of their performance in future competitions, while also inspiring more UGM students to develop their potential in competitive sport.
