Yogyakarta, August 21, 2024 – Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) presents another annual event, Gelanggang Expo (Gelex) 2024. The event, which runs for three days from August 21 to 23, 2024 at Pancasila Field, Grha Sabha Pramana UGM, presents a variety of spectacular performances and becomes a medium for students to explore their potential and interests.
With the theme “Gemilang Ekspresi Gelanggang”, Gelex 2024 invites the entire academic civities to celebrate their freedom of expression. This theme is realized in a stunning stage decoration, where each corner depicts the beauty of four elements of magic that represent each Joint Secretariat (Sekber) of UGM Student Activity Unit (UKM). The Spiritual Element symbolizes a world that is colorful, shining, and still receives blessings from the Creator. The Sports element symbolizes health and brings great enthusiasm. Art Element symbolizes emotional balance and creativity. The Special Element symbolizes each individual’s soft skills that make them shine in their own unique way.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sujito, S.Sos., M.Si., explained in his remarks at the opening ceremony that Gelanggang Expo is an annual routine activity that aims to introduce the variety of student activities at UGM.
“The theme ‘Gemilang Ekspresi Gelanggang’ means freedom for each student activity unit and community to express themselves according to their own characteristics,” said Arie.
