“Hopefully, the new student candidates who are chosen through the PBUB pathway will be able to continue the achievements of their upperclassmen and make UGM proud in the national and international levels,” said Dr. Sindung.
This PBUB 2024 skills test was attended by 196 prospective new students who had passed the previous administrative selection. The participants were required to take a skills test in accordance with the chosen field, with a total of 37 sports and arts being tested. Some of the fields tested in the PBUB 2024 skills test include weightlifting, bicycle racing, basketball, archery, roller skating, musical arts, fine arts, sound arts, karawitan dance and other sports and arts fields. The participants were tested by experts in their respective fields to assess their abilities and potential.
Interestingly, in organizing the skills test for PBUB 2024, UGM involves fellow students who are members of the UGM Student Activity Unit (UKM) and Community as the organizing committee. They are in charge of various fields, according to their expertise and experience in their respective units and communities. The spirit of collaboration and participation of UGM students can be seen in organizing the PBUB 2024 Skills Test. The involvement of students in the PBUB 2024 Skills Test is a tangible manifestation of the spirit of the UGM academic community to work together in supporting the successful selection process for new students. Students who are members of UGM Students’ Activity Units and Communities related to the field being tested are actively involved as facilitators, documentators, medical teams, and special companions in the implementation of the test.
The involvement of UGM Students’ Activity Unit and Community is also expected to strengthen the relationship between UGM and its students. This is in line with UGM’s commitment to build a campus atmosphere that is conducive and full of a family-like spirit. PBUB is also a form of UGM’s commitment in attracting outstanding and talented student candidates. Through this pathway, UGM hopes to produce young generations who are not only academically smart, but also have extraordinary talents and achievements.
