UKM Karate Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has made another outstanding achievement at the international level. UKM Karate UGM won 12 medals in various categories at the Karate Championship held at Stadium Titiwangsa, Malaysia, from March 8 to 10, 2024.

UKM Karate UGM has prepared itself to achieve this achievement. Since November 2023, the training center has conducted training with intensity four times a week. The athletes have practiced hard and dedicatedly under the guidance of Sensei Yuskar, Senpai Ari, Senpai Dika, Senpai David, and Senpai Aliffa.

Karate UGM team manager, Afina Putri Kusumadewi, explained that due to the high interest of Karate UKM athletes, a selection was held for prospective delegate athletes in December. So those who go to Malaysia are athletes who have passed the selection.

“Because this is the first time for UGM Karate UKM to compete in Malaysia, the motivation is very high. They have their own spirit and thank God from 53 contingents consisting of 6 countries, UGM achieved the 4th place,” she said.
