UGM Student Team’s Brilliant Achievements at the 2023 National University Debating Championship (NUDC)

UGM student team brought victory in the national level English debate competition “2023 National University Debating Championship (NUDC)” which was held at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Serang, Banten on 5-12 June 2023. The UGM delegation at NUDC 2023 consisted of 2 debaters, namely Ryan Kusnadi (Faculty of Engineering 2020) and Anak Agung Gde Satwika Ananta (Faculty of Law 2020), and 1 N1 adjudicator, namely Jason Valentino Samvero (Faculty of Law 2021). The UGM NUDC debate team won 1st place at the national level.

Furthermore, the UGM delegation at 2023 NUDC also won various achievements individually, namely 3rd Best Open Speaker by Ryan Kusnadi, 8th Best Open Best Speaker by Anak Agung Gde Satwika Ananta, and 4th Best N1 Adjudicator by Jason Valentino Samvero.

A series of NUDC activities this year was carried out offline at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Serang, Banten, and was broadcasted live on the Untirta Official YouTube channel as the host of the competition. The final championship results were announced on Sunday, 12 June 2023. As a result of both the NUDC and KDMI selection process conducted by Puspresnas and regional LLDIKTI, 112 teams with a total of 336 participants consisting of 224 debating students and 112 N1 adjudicators were recorded making it to the national round. The debate system used was the British Parliamentary system which is usually used in debate competitions between world-class universities or the World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC).
