The 7th ASEAN Student Leaders Forum (ASLF) and 3rd ASEAN University Network – Student Affairs Network (AUN-SAN) Meeting 2019 events were officially closed on Thursday (02/14) at the PKKH UGM Building. The events organized by the Office of International Affairs and the UGM Student Creativity Sub-directorate raised the theme “ASEAN Way in the Era of Disruption: The Role of the University and the Student Leaders in Preparing to Excel the Fourth Industrial Revolution”. Counting 66 students and 25 lecturers from 24 universities in various ASEAN countries participated in this events.
The closing ceremony which was held on Thursday night (14/02), was opened by the Suka Ati dance which depicted the Sekaten culture. The program continued with remarks by the Vice Rector for Education, Learning, and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Djagal Wiseso Marseno, M.Agr. In his remarks, he stated that the success of this event could not be separated from the hard work of various parties. He also expressed his pride in the participants. “This event is a combination of discussion and cultural exploration. The participants have exchanged brilliant opinions about how ASEAN can deal with the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. This makes me optimistic that ASEAN is able to overcome the 4.0 Industrial Revolution. “
Previously, the participants had participated in a series of activities consisting of country report presentations, presentation on the best practices, project presentation groups, and poster presentations. The whole series of activities produced a document that contains strategies for AUN member universities to face the 4.0 Industrial Revolution.
The closing ceremony also presented an amazing performance by Rampoe Team, Gadjah Mada Chamber Orchestra (GMCO), and UGM Student Choir. At the end of the event, it was announced that Chiang Mai University, Thailand would be the next host.
