The Postgraduate Student Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (HMP UGM) distributed 50 tankers of clean water totaling approximately 250,000 liters to drought-affected communities in Kalurahan Terbah, Gunungkidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The initiative stemmed from HMP UGM’s concern over the difficulties faced by local residents in accessing clean water during the dry season, including reports that some community members had been forced to sell agricultural produce such as cassava simply to purchase clean water. Of the total assistance prepared, 175,000 liters were distributed in the first phase, prioritizing the communities of Padukuhan Karang and Kayugrit, while the remaining 75,000 liters were planned for distribution to other affected areas. The distribution was carried out in stages using a fleet of water tankers directed to designated receiving points including residential areas, places of worship, and educational facilities, with an average of four to five tankers deliverable per day depending on the storage capacity available at each location. read more

Sultan Devendra P.S., a student from the Regional Development Study Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada, claimed 2nd place at the international level in the UNNES International Orienteering Race (UNNES IOR) 2026, organized by the Nature Lovers Student Association of Universitas Negeri Semarang (Mahapala UNNES) in collaboration with the relevant federation, held on September 19–20, 2026, at Universitas Negeri Semarang, Sekaran, Gunungpati, Semarang, Central Java. The competition is an international-level orienteering event using the Foot O (Running Orienteering) discipline in Sprint Distance format, and is officially registered as a World Ranking Event (WRE).
