UGM’s Judo Student Club once again delivered a commendable performance at the International Judo Championship – Tiang Bendera Open 2026, held in Yogyakarta on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The competition is an international-level event bringing together participants from various universities and educational institutions, aimed at fostering interest and talent in judo among students and young people, while also serving as a benchmark for athletes preparing to advance to higher-level competitions. Competition categories were divided by age and weight class to ensure fair and competitive matches for all participants. At this event, the UGM Judo contingent secured a total of four medals, comprising one silver and three bronze.
The detailed medal results for UGM Judo Student Club athletes are as follows:
- Jibril Alifsin Jusril Radityo, a student from the Faculty of Philosophy, finished in 2nd place in the Men’s -66 kg Senior category
- Muhammad Kautsar Dharma Susetio, a student from the Faculty of Agriculture, claimed bronze in the Men’s -100 kg Senior category
- Ahmad Warih Nurlabiba, a student from the Faculty of Law, finished in 3rd place in the Men’s -81 kg Senior category
- Marcellino Augustian Lu, a student from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, secured 3rd place in the Men’s -73 kg Senior category
The achievement of four medals at the International Judo Championship – Tiang Bendera Open 2026 brings a positive impact to the development of judo within the UGM community. This accomplishment is hoped to motivate other students to get involved in sporting activities, while also serving as a reminder that athletic achievement can be pursued alongside the demands of academic life on campus. Beyond the results of the competition itself, this success further strengthens the image of UGM’s Judo Student Club as a development platform that consistently produces competitive talent at both the regional and international level.
In response to this achievement, UGM’s Judo Student Club plans to enhance the quality of its coaching by bringing in more experienced trainers and strengthening athlete preparation programs ahead of future national and international competitions. This achievement demonstrates that UGM holds significant potential in the development of competitive sports, and with continued support from various stakeholders, UGM’s judo athletes are expected to keep achieving even greater accomplishments in the years to come.
